Lieutenant Dan is our baby with Spina Bifida, a condition which has basically left him unable to use his back legs. We rescued Dan from the backyard of a family that had raised him from a piglet when they realized his only other chance was euthanasia. Since his rescue, Dan has lost a little weight and gained a lot of confidence. He scoots around on his bottom like he owns the place, frequently chasing other pigs away from his favorite spots: under the picnic bench, beneath the oak tree, and most recently, the lazy river. Dan has a grumpy outer shell, but on the inside, he's a real softie who loves a good belly rub. Dan makes us laugh every day, and we have been delighted by the transformation he has made. He has grown used to the "comfy" life and frequently steals blankets from his roommate Cruz, and also refuses to go outside if it's raining. We love this spoiled boy! Without doubt, he's got a lot of personality, and here at Ziggy's, he's free to express himself and do as he pleases for as long as he lives.
