Daisy Mae

Daisy Mae is the oldest goat on our farm and is now living out her golden days with her best friends Rasta and Cam

We had been following the story of Daisy Mae and Rasta for weeks before we finally stepped in and gave them a forever home. These two are best friends, and have lived a hard life. Daisy Mae was forced to breed with Rasta, in hopes of producing "geep" -- sheep/goat hybrids that are often born stillborn or with many genetic abnormalities. After many failed attempts to breed, in May 2018, the two best friends were shipped to slaughter. Thankfully, good Samaritans intervened and got them to a safe place, then eventually transferred them here to Ziggy's. Daisy Mae is an older gal, whom we estimate to be around 10 or more years old. Despite her difficult life, she is extremely friendly and loves greeting visitors and receiving forehead scratches. She is still quite spry at her old age, and enjoys standing on her hind legs to reach leaves on the hanging branches. Daisy Mae, Rasta, and another resident ram named Josie, are now best friends who will never face slaughter or abuse again. Daisy Mae is the "leader" of the pack, and both Rasta and Josie will follow her every move and look to her for guidance.
