There are typically three reasons that usually encompass the reasons many vegan eat and live the way they do. To them, veganism isn't just a diet, but a way of life in which they try to reduce harm and follow their beliefs and ethics when it comes to choosing what to eat, wear, and support.

First, and probably most common is animal rights.  People everywhere are waking up to the horror that is factory farming.  More and more people are being exposed to what happens behind closed doors thanks to social media and dedicated activists.  The time has come where the masses are realizing that nothing humane happens inside an abattoir.

Secondly, people are becoming educated about the effects animal agriculture has on the environment.  Most people generally want to leave the world a better place for their children- and animal products are making that harder and harder each day.  From climate change to ocean dead zones, farming animals is a disaster for the environment.

Thirdly, you will find people who are concerned about their health.  Fad diet after fad diet with no results can be frustrating- but many times it leads a health-conscious person to veganism.  Veganism is not a fad diet, but rather a lifestyle.  Of course, you can be an unhealthy vegan who lives off of sodas, cakes, and cookies- but a whole food plant-based diet is taking the lead when it comes to being the healthiest diet for the human body.

There are many benefits to going vegan.  We will discuss the major three reasons mentioned above under the tabs "Food Animals", "The Environment", "Your Health", and "Going Vegan".
