Rescued Aug 2024 - one of the hottest days of the summer. Her owners abandoned her in a dog kennel, she'd been fed for months by a neighbor who called distressed as developer crews were threatening to bulldoze the kennel. Her sister had died months earlier we found out. Ethel was so heavy, so dehydrated, so feverish she couldn't even get up and was barely hanging on. Estimated 400lbs but she should weigh 150lbs. Took her weeks to be able to stand and move around. She is completely fat blind but we hope as she keeps losing weight she'll see again soon. She found her favorite low calorie snack - watermelon! And began to trust. Talk about Diesel, how she was so depressed before him, likely grieving her sister.
