Sheffield was rescued in 2023 during a horrific animal cruelty case in Wake County, North Carolina, where over 200 animals were seized. 

Ziggy’s Refuge took in five goats from the worst conditions of the case—Sheffield, Chef, Wrigley, Clark, Rupert, and Addison. 

When they arrived, none of them could walk. Their hooves were severely overgrown, they were battling parasites, and their bodies showed the toll of long-term neglect.  

Through extensive rehabilitation, medical care, and patience, every one of these goats made a remarkable recovery.

Today, Sheffield and his friends are thriving—healthy, mobile, and truly living their best lives. We are endlessly grateful they are here, safe and finally surrounded by love
